Any Feedback on Precisions new 5831? - Turbo Buick
As far as the Precision 5831 turbo goes, I LOVE IT. Up to 22psi there is no difference in power over the stock turbo on my combo (stock long block) and there is a tad more turbo lag up to about 4psi but not much with a 2800 stall. Once it hits 4psi then the boost is instant.

Second car would be a slightly more modified car with basic bolt ons, you know, 3" downpipe, aftermarket intercooler, fuel system mods, a good torque converter, etc etc, and either a PT6131E turbo or a PT6152E turbo.

You need to also be aware of another thing. People rate converters differently, One company might have a 2800 stall at 0 boost. Another company might have a 3200-3400 stall that was rated at about 5 or so pounds of boost.

te44 is a crappy turbo with bad spool. i had joe lubrant do a chip and he even said he never sw a turbo spool so badly. he looked at it and the turbo was fine ( a new precision) and so i put on the stock turbo and the problem was fixed. if youre gonna upgrade, UPGRADE get a 70 series BB or a 60 series non BB.

The only problem I had was the turbo drain tube gasket. Mine was practically concreted onto the bottom of the turbo. Finally got it off and use a razor blade to scrape off the remains. A sanding disc would be done in two seconds. Also a good time to replace the 02 sensor if need be. I also painted my turbo bracket, but I had to remove it later.
